Does Marvel Studios Want Angelina Jolie To Direct ‘Captain Marvel’?
Marvel Cinematic Universe has always received criticisms from fans due to the lack of solo films for female superheroes. However, this is set to change as Marvel is putting a lot of effort in ensuring that more female superheroes are being given solo roles. In addition to Agent Carter which currently airs on ABC as well as Netflix, Marvel introduced a new female character for Guardians of the Galaxy last year. The character Gamora was played by Zoe Saldana. There are also several other projects which are currently in the works at Marvel that looks to having roles for female superheroes. However, Marvel’s most high-profile project is “Captain Marvel” which is expected to be led by a female. Captain Marvel is set to be released in the summer of 2018.
Reports by OK Magazine indicate that Angelina Jolie is being courted by Marvel so as to direct Captain Marvel and she is being offered a cool $20 million as paycheck to bring the film to the big screen. Angelina Jolie is now known for her work as a director in Unbroken, a film which received a lot of buzz and even got nominated for the Oscar. The sources of the magazine have indicated that Marvel is keen on seeking the services of a female director who will direct the film.
If the rumors are true then Angelina Jolie is without a doubt the perfect candidate for the position given the fact that she is one of the most respected and well known women in Hollywood and she brings a lot of buzz on the projects that she works on.
